Brent crude oil futures

Brent crude oil (trading symbol LCO) is sourced from the North Sea. Brent Crude is used as the pricing benchmark for two thirds of the world's internationally traded crude oil supplies, in particular, petroleum production from Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Brent crude oil futures trading was originally conducted on the International Petroleum Exchange (IPE) in London but since 2005 has traded on the electronic IntercontinentalExchange (ICE). Each contract quotes in US dollars and equals 1000 barrels. In addition to ICE, Brent crude oil futures are also traded on the NYMEX.

NYMEX crude oil futures

Crude oil is the world's most actively traded commodity. The NYMEX contract is the world's most liquid format for crude oil futures trading, as well as the world's largest-volume futures contract trading on a physical commodity. Because of its excellent liquidity and price transparency, the NYMEX crude oil futures contract is used as a principal international pricing benchmark for crude oil prices.
